Team Assessment
Communication: The Keystone of Collaboration
Communication is key for any group of individuals who wish to complete a common goal. That being said, the way information was shared within our team was essential to the success of our project. By keeping each other informed on what needed to be completed and by whom, we were able to feasibly progress through the various steps of research without issue. If anything were hindering the forward movement of our work, reaching out to our teacher or technical advisor would quickly provide us with a solution. Without thorough communication, our attempts to succeed would surely have led to failure.
Research and Innovation in the Real World
In researching “big-data” searches, we discovered the Northrop Report, which explained the issues with modern day information systems and possible issues of the future and as a result, learned to research information to provide innovaitve solutions to these problems. First, we learned that innovation for anything, especially technology, is never truly a finished product, in order for a system to be truly innovative, it must be able to evolve with time and morph based on the needs of the times. In terms of research, we learned how every inkling of mechanics is connected inside big data systems, explaining their complexity.
Lessons Learned
- Deadlines are one of the most simple and effective ways of getting work done. Coupled with breaking tasks into small chunks, large quantities of work can be accomplished with relative ease
- Patience is necessary; everything does not always fall into place smoothly. The best way to be adaptable and thereby successful is to be calm and collected in a collaborative effort.
- Keeping in mind group members’ strengths and weaknesses is crucial when allocating objectives among the group. Work increases in quality in this manner, and causes no frustration.
